FEMA CERT Basic Course

Your first step to becoming a CERT member is to take our FEMA CERT Basic Training, which is a 18-hour course taught by our own experienced and certified instruction team. During your training, you will learn and engage in hands-on skill building in the following subject areas:

* Disaster Preparedness  * Fire Safety & Hazardous Materials  * Disaster Medical Operations  * Light Search and Rescue  * CERT Organization  * Disaster Psychology  * Terrorism  * Final Functional Exercise

The course will result in a FEMA CERT Basic Course certificate of completion, and enable you to access the rest of the FEMA and Florida State Emergency Response Team curricula, which include hundreds of free professional development and emergency response courses ranging from advanced medical training to biological and chemical threats to professional writing, and everything in between.

The Spring 2023 course will take place on the following dates:

     *  Thursday, February 23rd 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM       

     *  Friday, February 24th 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM       

     *  Saturday, February 25th 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Trainees must attend all three sessions to earn their FEMA certification. This training class is provided for free to anyone interested. The only costs associated with it are optional purchases of USF CERT apparel and emergency response equipment at registration.
